MY PHILOSOPHY

I remember, as a child, being mesmerized by the abundance of varied life in Africa. I became enchanted by all aspects of the fauna and flora; which led to my desire to become a conceptual wildlife artist.

My inspiration comes from reading, drawing, writing and walking in the bush or watching wildlife documentaries. I am open to new ideas all the time, whether it is phrase I read somewhere or an image that catches my eye. I have a deep love and appreciation for the wildlife in Africa which is reflected in my work.

Once I have chosen the subject matter of my current work I literally merge with the fauna and flora in a space of harmony in my studio, where together we set about creating the artwork.

The eyes of the animals in my work are important to me as eyes are the window to the soul. Choosing a title for each work is immensely important to me as it is the title which allows the viewer access the art and to understand and appreciate that which is being portrayed.
